چکیده
Former journalist Robert C. Conner's James Montgomery: Abolitionist Warrior is, as reviewer John Daley notes, only the second full-length biography of Montgomery, “least known or written about those inconvenient heroes” who killed proslavery forces in prewar Kansas. “Conner’s stated mission this more broadly focused work is to help reader understand rather than forgive,” writes. He concludes that, “In [Conner] succeeds.”
